So which trams do I get 200, 300,350 400?

I currently have a 700r4 heavy hauler in my 69 C10. It shot. I don't need OD. Don't care aBout fuel economy. Don't race. Just want a nice smooth quiet transmission. Car has a 350 crate and 3.78 posi.

Just have that one rebuilt and don't worry about having the drive shaft redone. OR find a T350 have it rebuilt and installed and lengthen the drive shaft

350 is good i can attest to that, though I do wish I had OD. I can barely go past 60 MPH, 55 if I do not want to make it scream the whole way. What sucks is the speed limit on the highwas around here are 70 MPH (roughly, 120 KPH)

then again IDK what i have for sure, the Vin/SPID indicates it is a turbo 350, but it has already had a 305 transplanted, not sure about the tranny. Need to investigate that!

Easiest is just to have that one rebuilt. By the time you change it all out foe a non o/d, the little bit you save on the trans will be offset by the cost of changing the driveline.

You will miss the o/d with those gears too.

If (when) gas gets back to $4-5/gal in Cali, you'll wish you had that extra 2-3mpg.

Around here a bench rebuild is only aournd $7-800. A R&R is around $12-1300.

Also, why did it burn up? Crap load of miles? Hard driving? Just old? 700R's are sensitive to proper TV cable set up. You can set one up with a simple pressure gauge screwed into the 4th gear port and setting it within the proper PSI range for shifting (it's floating around here somewhere.)

I concur with getting the 700 rebuilt, it is a good tranny. If you switch to the 200-4R, TH350, or TH400 I think the drive shaft will have to be replaced. Out of them all I prefer the 200-4R because of the OD, and it used less HP to operate than the 700-4R. I know nothing of the 300.
