Has anyone used the "new tooling" 55-59 doors - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I see Brothers and other vendors stating that they now offer superior fitting 55-59 doors. Has anyone used them and had any luck with them? I don't mind doing a little work to make them fit but, are they any better than the first reproductions?

For 640 bucks delivered to a business address they had better be perfect.

Well, actually $499 as I will be picking them up from Brothers in person. I'm also selling my set of shaved doors for the same amount.

That helps but I'd want to see a set installed on a truck before putting out the cash or selling the doors I had.

I'm at the point in life where I don't really want to be the first guy who buys a new product simply because the seller says it is wonderful. I want feed back from others that it really is wonderful.

Being able to walk in and touch and feel them at the store doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, DO NOT sell your doors until these have been fit.

I have seen "exact as original" WAY too many times referring to reproduction or AM parts.

They are SELDOM the same. But to be perfectly honest, the original doors fit like crap. But that is what scares me, if the original door fit like crap and the repro doors aren't even that good....yeow.

A friend of mine just got a pair a couple of weeks ago and they fit very good. I was surprised but they need very little work. They could be used as is if you wanted but he is looking for perfect gaps everywhere.

Met a local guy through his ad selling original doors. At the end of the conversation he told me he had purchased new doors from Brothers and they fit as good or better than his original doors. He said for the money is was worth it starting with fresh metal and recommended I buy the new ones instead of his old ones as well. Might just pull the trigger on some and post my thoughts.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
