Whats your 350 Vortec setup

I see a lot of posts about swapping out for Vortec heads and a ton of different options for them. So I figured I would see what people are running for heads/intakes/covers.

so lets hear it. Whats your Vortec set-up and why?

Are you referring to a SBC with Vortec heads? A lot of people on here runs 350 Vortec engines and the newer 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, etc Vortec.

Just a vortec L31-R crate engine with a summit aluminum intake and a Holley carb. The valve covers came with the engine. I also added the headers and 2 1/2 inch exhaust and MSD ignition. Not anything special but it gets me down the road.
Why? because it was the best engine I could find for the money.

I like the look of the black on orange with that set up. Looks like a beast too.

I took my 1972 SBC and stoked it to a 383 with Vortec heads, installed a Lunati VooDoo 268 cam, Eagle rotating assembly with dished pistons for a 9.8:1 compression, Edelbrock intake, Quadrajet card, and shorty headers. The low end torque is phenomenal and roll on passing power is outragous! My 19 year old son drove it and came back grinning about the power reserves this thing has!

It's all stock inside, I just helped it breath a little better. From everything I can find it should have at least 300 HP but it also has a lot of low end torque. It looks good runs smooth and I have fooled a few people at the traffic lights with it. Makes a fun truck to drive.

I am in the process of getting my 1967 road worthy. Taking out the 250-6 and three on the tree and replacing it with a 350 V8 and a 200-4r transmission.

The engine is a new L31-R crate engine (Craigslist find). The only non stock items I have installed are the following: .015" Fel-Pro head gaskets, Comp Cam 1.52 Ultra Pro Magnum rocker arms, Summit Stage 1 intake manifold (a give me item), and an Edelbrock AVS 500 cfm carburetor.

Just last weekend I bought a 200-4r out of the salvage yard and am getting parts for it right now.

Can't wait to get it all together. Hope it is a nice cruiser to enjoy and have fun.

Sounds like a fun build! I never was brave enough to dabel in transmission work. But I'm sure these ones are a little more simple than my newer model vehicles, of course I could be completely wrong.

cylinder heads are Engine Quest Vortec bare castings built with SS valves, Comp Cam springs, mild port, etc. (Same as RHS)
intake is Edelbrock performer air gap
valve covers are stock with VHS red wrinkle paint
stock TBI serp belt set up ( didn't ask, thought I'd say anyway)

I have a sbc bored 40 over with 2 valve relief pistons, 5.7 vortec heads with the stock valve covers, 500 lift valve springs, performer intake, a mild cam, stock ram horn manifolds. I did it because I already had the block and the vortec heads gave me a bit more power for a daily driver. She has some good punch to it considering my 71 k10 isnt a light truck.

This is what I had in my truck for a little while. It's a 383 with E-TEC 200 aluminum heads, a RPM intake 830 Holley, 548 lift hydraulic roller cam, flat top pistons with two valve reliefs. It sounded good but I really didn't like it in this truck. I was going to have to change gears in the rear to make it work and I didn't want to do that. It came out of my S10 so I decided to put it back in the S10 and get a more drivable motor for the C10.
