What are the diameter and width of the steel wheels on the truck below. I cant seem to find them in the catalogs. Id like a set to match the ochere truck in this picture along with the hubcaps. Thanks.

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

Those are probably 16" wheels for 3/4 ton trucks.

You can find them on this site (cheaper) or ebay. Maybe craigslist.

Correct hubcaps in good shape are probably north of $500 if you can find them (for 4wd).

Paying members can post a 'want to buy' ad and usually have success.

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

If it's anything like my '70 C2500, they could well be the 16.5" rims. They're getting hard to find tires for, unfortunately, and aren't really the hot ticket.

Because they're so plain, unless originality is a big deal, I would look for a wheel compatible with the cap in a 15, 16, or 17 inch rim. Could even be from a Dodge or Ford so long as the cap fits and the 8-bolt pattern is the same.

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

Ok thanks guys. I would like to find them in a 15" or 16" for 6 lug. Any help would be great. Wonder why LMC or classic chevy doesn't sell reproduction caps - ive noticed they are salty.

these are 15X8 six lug. They came on military Blazers. I don't think they are reproduced. The caps are as hard to find as the wheels.

Wheel Vintiques doesn't have them. They come up for sale on the board fairly often. As far as using Stockton I would do some internet searching on their reputation first.

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

You don't have to buy $500+ hubcaps, my mom painted the hub caps on my truck and they don't look bad at all. She used some paint stripper to get off the old bad paint. She then hand painted with some model paint from hobby lobby.

Thank you, but I'm looking for the 8" deep dish - I should've specified. I also have a set of the narrow on a parts truck.

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

I shouldn't tease you with this story, but.

My son in law bought a 72 4x4 the other day that was burned in the cab.

We assumed the wheels were 8" rallys. I picked it up and I was tying it down when I noticed the wheel were 15X8 steelies. He got a nice bonus on that deal, because the wheels were worth almost want he gave for the truck.

Wheels not for sale BTW.

In your search, make sure you watch for four nub, not three nub centers. three nub won't clear disc brakes.

Check with the aftermarket, but I didn't have any luck finding 15x8 six lugs.

What is it that the 3 nub "centers" wont work "(not three nub centers)" "(three nub won't clear disc brakes)"? 3 & 4 nub rims are both 3 1/2" center holes, my 3 nub rims are 3 1/2" for the center holes. What am I not seeing or do 4 nub rims have a bigger center hole than 3 1/2"

Three nub wheels are from a 1970 or earlier. As I understand it, the problem is in the offset clearing the disc brakes. From experience with other wheels, I think the problem is with the shape of the wheel behind the center.

Nothing is absolute, so try yours on a disc brake truck. I would love to know if they work.

Even though I act like it, I don't know everything.lol

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

No, not stepping on a thread. rharris is looking for 15" 6 lugs and the differentiation between 70 and older and 71 and newer is important for him to be aware of. The 70 and older 6 lugs have an angled inner rim that will interfere with a stock caliper. Many, many threads on here about that already. Center hub hole size is not the issue, rim inside taper is. Most reference 3 vs 4 nub as an easy way to ID the older vs newer 6 lug wheels as davischev pointed out correctly.

rharris, if you need to clear disks, you need a 71 or newer k5 or k10 wheel if you want the wide stock steelie look. Yes, getting hard to find. If no disks, any 6 lug will clear all drums, but 8" might not be an option in the older wheels.

Actually a bunch of 15x8 six lug 3 nub and 4 nub have popped up for sale on here lately. I don't know if any are still available.

Thank you. All the info is great. I was close to purchasing an 8" off a 1968 - sounds like they wont work. The truck is a 1971 6 lug with disc brakes all around (aftermarket rear of course).

Re: Steel Wheel Questions/Sale

No reproductions of these wheels. I have searched exhaustively. I've also started threads asking how many people would like to see reproductions - there's tons of interest, but I can't find a wheel manufacturer who will listen.

Took me a few months to round up a set of 15x8 4-nub, six-lug steelies and 4x4 dog dish caps. Wasn't exactly cheap either, especially after powdercoat, but couldn't find anyone who didn't know what they had... eights months later I'm still waiting on the guy who said he "had some sitting in a field" and would let me know what width and how much. I gave up on him.

They do look nice though:
