Dipstick Tube Question
Okay, delete if not allowed but I do have a serious question. '96 Silverado, 5.7 Vortec. My dipstick tube broke awhile back from where it mounts on the block and it's been ziptied ever since. I've tried to order a new one but I can't find anyone that can get a new tube for me. RockAuto, O'Reilley, AutoZone, none of them. Does anybody know where I can get a dipstick tube for a 5.7 Vortec without having to go through my local GM dealer?

Re: Dipstick Tube Question
I'd hit up the local junkyard.

Re: Dipstick Tube Question
...Didn't even think of that. Appreciate it! I really don't wanna pay $08218768987 to GM for a dipstick tube.

Re: Dipstick Tube Question
Even though you don't want to, I'd check with the dealer. You might be surprised that its not 7 million dollars.(Its $34) And there are a ton in GM warehouses.

Re: Dipstick Tube Question
I've never understood why people don't want to check with the dealer, especially on small random stuff like this. Hell, the worst you're out is a phone call and 10 minutes of your time.

Re: Dipstick Tube Question
The dealer has higher quality parts the price is cheaper in some cases. I needed a shift cable for my truck some years ago. Got one from Autozone that bound up immediately, returned it and got one from the dealer. 20 bucks cheaper and smooth as silk.
