Removed long bed by myself
Today I remove the bed. I removed all bolts. Jacked up the bed with a floor jack and a 4x4, put some boards between the bed and frame so I could slide a couple of 2x4s lengthwise. I put some pvc pipe between the 2x4s and the frame. I have a flatbed trailer that I used with some wheels and tires and some metal ramps I had. I backed the trailer up to the back of the bed of the truck. I took the back wheels off of the truck and used the pvc pipe and an old driveshaft to roll the bed right on to the trailer. It rolled really easy.

American ingenuity at its finest! Hats off to you!
I'm filing this away for future use.

Re: Removed long bed by myself
I love reading about creative ways that our fellow members do things with their trucks. Nice job. When I did mine, fortunately I had my JD tractor. I made almost an "H" style pattern out of 2X4's and lifted it off.

Re: Removed long bed by myself
Never underestimate nor forget the utility of the "roller." Steel pipe is best but PVC can handle a lot, depending on the schedule. A friend wanted my help to move in a 1,000 pound gun safe and I suggested some pipes. We rolled that thing right into his basement on PVC pipes. Easy job.
Congrats on your removal. At some point, I'll have to remove mine. |

Re: Removed long bed by myself
I'm going to be doing this later this year. I figure some lumber and an engine crane and I'm good.
