1963 1 ton. What to do😬😬
I found 1963 1ton Dully all original except bed . I had planned on taking the cab and putting it on my 63 stepside but I have a hard to do it. Can somebody help me ID this engine? I'll have to go back to get a better picture of the straight six. Could it be a 292 or is it more likely a 260?

Re: 1963 1 ton. What to do😬😬
Looks like a 230 or 250 to me. Can you do a fuller view of the same side? 4 inch side covers is a 230 or 250. 292 has 6 inch side covers. Fuel pump does not appear in the picture telling me it's not a 292 as the pump on them was in the center of the block on that side. 230 and 250 have the pump right behind the dizzy. Also the 292 has a by pass hose from the thermo housing to the pump. Engine numbers will do no good as many were the same for the 230 and 250. Best way to tell the difference between the two is that a 230 will have flat top pistons and the 250 will share the D-dish piston of the 292.
EDIT: Was this the 63 flatbed on C/L for $900? If so...NOT FAIR! lol!

I have no clue on the engine..... but my 2 cents on the truck? Keep it original, there aren't a lot of 1ton and bigger trucks left. If you want to find a cab to swap over, search around for a parts truck that's already stripped down or a pickup that has a good cab but is to far to bring back to life.

Jesseo,
If you decide you don't want to rip the cab from that beautiful, defenseless, 1-ton, let me know. I have a 60-63 cab I don't need. B |

I have a plan. My buddy is a Plasti-dip dealer. This is my truck and the red one is my inspiration. Going to Plasti-dip it light green and put rails on the bed.
