Sooooooo did a grill and bumper swap for a guy. everything went as planned, but that bumper took lots of shims. Now is that because of poor made parts, bent tweeked frame or just a combo of both?

Im curious as to the length of those two bumper brackets. The previous owner of my pickup mounted an aftermarket chrome bumper and currently only one of those brackets are being used. I'm missing one. The other day I went to a junk yard and pulled the missing part I needed. To my surprise, when I attempted to mounted it, I found out that it was two short (around an inch). The stock part from the junk yard is shorter than the mount currently in use. Im wondering if the brackets your using are the short versions I recently found, which caused you to have to shim it up. Did you use the shims on the frame end or on the bumper end?

67-70 trucks used shorter outer brackets as they bolted right where the parking light is on a 71/72. When Gm put the larking light in the bumper in 71, longer outer brackets were needed since the bolt is now further toward the edge of the bumper. (67-70 brackets do not interchange with 71/72 brackets.)

Well judging by the MANGLED bumper you took off Id suspect things were bent brother.
