Booster mounting
Does anyone know if booster brackets can be taken off and booster mounted directly to firewall without causing issues. I don't care for how far they stick out.

Re: Booster mounting
I don't really see why you couldn't if your bracket unbolts from the booster. Mine is riveted so no luck for me there. Besides, The bracket gives just enough room for the clutch master to get in there right beside it. Post pics if you do. Im sure it will help clean up the engine bay a little.

Re: Booster mounting
I guess it depends on how it's made to be mounted. I've put mine directly to the firewall but that's how it is to be installed. hope this helps.

Re: Booster mounting
Go manual, no booster! I just switched to manual on my Chevelle and the MC cost me $9 shipped via warehouse deals. I can't give a straight up comparison because I went to discs in the front at the same time, but the pedal feel is pretty good and not as glitchy as power.

Re: Booster mounting
Thanks everyone for the ideas. My truck had manual brakes and was scary to stop at times. Think I got it all figured out just going to run the system in my picture.

Re: Booster mounting
The bracket has a link system mounted in it. Chevy used the same hole in the brake pedal for both manual and power brakes. The linkage made the necessary difference in pedal/push rod ratio.
You can mount the booster directly to the firewall (you may need to drill holes), but you really need to address the pedal ratio. Drilling a new hole in the pedal is the normal way to do it. http://www.mpbrakes.com/ These guys have tech section with tons of important info.
