Would someone measure their 1 pc 49 era windows. I need the width at the bottom, the width of the top between the flat side and the break part and the length of the taper.

I need to order glass for my truck and with it being chopped I don't know how close a stock pc would be. My local shop is very expensive on uncut glass then expensive on cutting it.

If I can by stock and cut it down it sure would save some money.

Having glass cut for a chopped top by measurements alone is going to be a crap shoot. I've had some custom size glass cut in the past. I have had the best results by using a 1/4 inch Masonite sheet and make patterns, you can sand it by hand and cut it with a jig saw. A good glass shop should be able to go from your pattern to safety glass for well under $100 per piece. Mime was $40 per piece but that was 15 years ago.

In your other post I didn't realize you were looking for chop top glass..that's a whole other thing then..I thought you were looking for stock window glass..like fasttoys says make a pattern..you might get away with a stock window glass that's cut down..does yours have the metal frame?.if so that will need modded also..

I'd do just as 47 Fasttoys suggested and go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a sheet of 1/4 inch Masonite and after cutting some patterns out of cardboard transfer the best one to the Masonite and cut and fit a pair of windows out of it and probably make an improved version on the second go.

I have to do the same thing on mine as it is chopped and stretched 9-1/4 inches though the doors. One of the local glass shop will cut glass to fit and then send it to be tempered and I am having it done that way.

Absolutely! There is nothing to think about, you MUST make patterns and cut the glass from the patterns. That goes for all of them, if someone chopped it you have no idea how it was done. You must make patterns, it's easy peasy!

Got it guys.. All the other windows are done but the two side ones..They are 3/8 plexi now, very heavy and not even close to fitting...

Thanks for the heads up on the pattern making...

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
