Re: Looking for tires

Nice!
The blue is close to color on my 65 Impala.
Here are a couple of mine.
The whiter 78 is my daily driver and the 2 tone blue and silver is my wife's 84 GMC.

The 78 looks rough and it is but it has a 250 I/6,power steering,A/C and a good stereo.Been driving it for at least 15 years now.

Mike./

Its what someone suggested to me for the new rims,,, Do you have a better choice,,, what I wanted was a 255-50 R18 ,,, that tire seems really hard to find ,,, the 245-50 is narrow by one inch from the 255- R18 ,,, or so I am told,,, I hate losing that inch

That 68 C 10 takes me back to 1978 ,,, when I got out of the Navy ,,, My dad had bought my grandfathers 68 C 10 ,,, same truck as yours,, except his was blue with a white cab top and white across the lower part of the truck ,, long bed and all,, I could have bought it for a song I didn't because of the long bed and because I was stupid ,,, a decision I always regretted ,,, I always wanted to get another 68,,, the opportunity never presented itself for me to get one When I had the opportunity to buy the 87,,, I did Do you have a better pic of the Impala? I have always wanted a 68 or 69 ,,, my grandmothers car now they just cost to much

Have you been down to the coast for Cruisin the Coast before,,, It started out small a few years ago,,, its not small anymore,,, pretty much the whole coast ( a 30 mile area) is filled with old cars and trucks,, its big & its awesome

Re: Looking for tires

Looks like I am late to the show, but for anyone else out there I will throw out my opinion. I highly recommend Cooper tires. Prices are not as high as Goodyear and especially Michelin, their tires get reviews as good and often better than those two, and they are 100% American made.

Re: Looking for tires

Tires came in today,,, look bigger than what I thought they would be,,, I was thinking 8 inches wide,,, I didn't take a tape to them,,, but look to be around 10 inches wide, am sure they will fill in that big wheel well and look awesome on the truck,, can't wait to see that I will post up a pic when they make it onto the truck

I had narrowed my list of tires,, to four tires,,, what made me end up with the tires I did,,, the Michelin's ,, This tire had,,, the best reviews from everyone that had posted reviews,,, of all my choices,,, my Goodyear choice,, didn't even make my top four list,,, after I read the reviews on that tire that kinda surprised me.

The rims,,, this may get a bit long

I paid for them with my Pay Pal account ,, after I picked the rims I wanted,,, and before I paid for them,,, I changed my Pay Pal shipping address to my mechanic's address,,, I wanted the rims shipped to him,, as I don't have a truck to bring them to him,,, if they were shipped to my house,, plus I will be at work when they come in. I entered the mechanic's address when I filled out the order form from JEGS when buying the rims. Shouldn't have been a problem,, until some one from JEGS entered my home address as my shipping address

So I see this on my invoice when JEGS sent it to me,, I call them,, whom ever I talked with at JEGS ,, said,,, nothing could be done I call JEGS again today,,, I am not a happy camper,, I will have the rims delivered to my house and I will be at work with $700 worth of rims sitting on my front porch Whom ever I talked with today at JEGS,,, says no problem,, I will have the rims re routed to your mechanic's address ( that address was in their putor ,, from the original order form ) So,,, supposedly she has this taken care of,,, we will see tomorrow,, I have my neighbor keeping an eye out for me,,, just in case the lady from JEGS is wrong

Truck went and had its exhaust system installed today,, sounds awesome now its back to the body shop for ,,, supposedly,,, 3 days ,, for them to finish up the work that should have been done before it left their shop the first time then back to the mechanic to have the rims & tires installed ,, tie up a few loose ends on the truck,,, then its mine

Re: Looking for tires

I have the rims and tires on the truck,,, will get ya'll a pic this week end and get er posted up So the Lug Nuts JEGS sent were the wrong ones I had to order the right ones from NAPA,,, at almost double the cost I still have to get the wrong ones sent back to JEGS.

I have another question: The rims and tires make the truck,, I made the right choice on the rims,,, at least for me The one draw back,,, the rims on the back of the truck ,,, you can see the ole rusty break drum thru the rims ,,,, Someone told me I could buy a plate that fits behind the rim and in front of the break drum,,, that would make it look alot better. They said LMC sells it,,, I can't find it though.

Is something on the market like this,,, is it something I might want to look into getting?A disk break conversion will be in my future,,, but its way down the R-10 list right now lol
