59 gmc to 72 C-10 IFS conversion?
I have a 59 gmc 3/4 ton project and also have an IFS supposedly out of a 72 C-10. Im curious if this will work and if so does anybody have any suggestions or pointers with this? Im seriously considering due to the abundance of parts available, lowering possibilities, disc brakes, power steering, etc. I also already have a tilt column and power steering system that will fit this setup.
Thanks in advanced!

my '57 truck has the IFS from a 1968 c-10. built by someone else 20 years ago. its not a good fit but can be made to work with alot of cutting and welding. i wouldnt recommend it. ill post a pic of mine

My advice is read this
http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.com/C10ifs.html and then don't do it. It is a lot more work that any of the current suspensions and only mildly better. I would do the Kimbridge enterprises sub frame that uses S10 parts |

Re: 59 gmc to 72 C-10 IFS conversion?
The later C-10 suspensions are just over 28 inches wide where the frame rails slip into them. Your frame is right at 34 inches wide which leaves you to hacking the frame up something terrible to get it to fit.
The only one I have seen photos of is an unsafe cobbled up mess that some poor fool bought and then posted photos of thinking he had the real deal. Don't do it as dwcsr said there are too many options that work well. As much as I don't like Crown Vic suspension swaps the Crown Vic crossmember is a much better and safer fit but your wheel choices would be severely limited because the mount surface to mount surface width is really wide and you have to use rims with no reverse offset.
