Skymangs ad- Astro van seat thread
Hey guys, first off I want to say what a great place this is for knowledge!! I'm in the process of doing an 1951 Chevy 1/2ton on an s10 and wow has this site been helpful! I read somewhere on here that Skymangs had a thread on putting an Astro van seat in an AD. I cannot seem to find it. Any help finding it or anyone that has done this and can shed some light on my problem would be much appreciated!

Too modern of a look for my build but man that seat looks comfortable for the long roads.

Re: Skymangs ad- Astro van seat thread
Ya it really is comfy! Picked one up for $20. Was just scratching my head on how to put it in. I've seen guys leave the factory seat surround and mount it to the original track. Which is a good option but I'd kinda like to remove it. But to be honest, not sure how to actually do it lol. Cutting it just at the base would leave that strip behind which I'm assuming is spot welded into place. But I can't find the spot welds to drill out. I'm trying not to just hack stuff out. But I'm by no means a body guy lol

Plus here's some more info on another of Skymangs 'Cecil' build http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=234 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=235 Also Aces if you cut out the OE seat base DO NOT cut out the rear! That adds stability to the cab |

Re: Skymangs ad- Astro van seat thread
I have a 3rd row GMC Safari Van seat Just sitting in mine. It's out of a 92 and its a little more utilitarian looking. I have not mounted it yet. I'm a long ways from being at that point in my build. They are built to lock into the floor of the van and detaches by flipping a lever on the backs of the riser. I'd kind of like to try and utilize that feature and have the whole thing flip forward to access the storage space underneath. We will see if it works out that way. Like I said going to be a while down the road. It looks very close to this.

Re: Skymangs ad- Astro van seat thread
ive got a 3rd row astro van bench in my 49 - no armrests, console or headrest I trimmed the latches off the bottom of the seat & used angle and flat plate to mount the seat to the floor. I also dropped it 3/4" because im 6'3. got more head room, about 2" more leg room and a more comfortable seat. win all around. the only thing I don't like is that the seat adjustment and back release are on the right side
