72 blazer

There is a 72 blazer for sale local. It is actually not bad at all for the price. The only problemsolution are it has no title and someone tried to replace the vin with a vintage tag from another blazer. (hackjob). I know this wouldn't pass first level inspection. He said he was told he could take it to MVD and have a new tag riveted in place with a new Vin. Anyone had any experience with this?

That will raise some flags with any inspection at the DMV.

IF... they would do it, they would assign their own number and I don't know anybody that would want to buy it later on.

Re: 72 blazer

If you could get the seller to have the new VIN assigned before buying that would help out a lot. If it were up to you to do it, I'd expect the price to be adjusted accordingly.

I just went through this with mine. Title matched the tag on the glove box, but not the one in the door jamb. At some point the tub had been swapped and they used the title from the old one with all of it's pieces. All it took for me was a trip to the DMV to get the proper forms and a call to the state police to send an officer out to verify and assign a new VIN.
