Gas help, in tank pump or not?

I was going to use an inline pump but my new gas tank came looking like it fell off the truck and didn't have the lock ring, it was supposed to be included.
Now since I'm going to return it I've been thinking about getting an 87 tank
What's the best route?

For my LS swap I used the 87 tank (Spectra Premium GM11C), AC Delco Pump (AC Delco EP381), and stock sending unit (Spectra Premium FG05N). Ordered everything on Amazon. I did mount an inline filter just external to the tank on the frame rail. The tank has internal baffles and the pump drops right on. Sending unit can be easily modified with AN6 fittings. Pretty easy, pretty cheap, and much cleaner than external unit. Good luck.

thanks for the experienced advice, I haven't had time to take the tank back b/c work but it will be done this week and I believe Im gonna take the 87 route after doing more digging. It does look to be the cheapest/easiest

87 Tank should be good to go.

Here is my Spectra replacement tank with a stock style fuel pump, TBI so it was only 15 psi. I shopped around and Rockauto had the best prices at the time.



Heres the same set-up, with the addition of the Racetronix 340lph pump.





I had my friend, Jason, weld on a -8 and -6 male bungs.








If you are going to do the AN fitting route, maybe get the line adapters that hook up to the stock outlet/inlet. That way, when your fuel level sender takes a crap, like mine currently, you wont have to have your friend Tig up another sending unit. LoL!


Earls, Russel or Fragola all make good adapter fittings.
