Help with identifying 12 bolt rear end

I bought this rear end from a guy. Said it was a '70 but it's a 5 lug. So, I'm thinking it's a 71 or 72. Plan is to use it on my '60 C10. I've identified some markings, and believe it's a 3:73 (not 100% sure).

Here are some pics.

How do I identify the exact year model? I would like to rebuild the rear brakes and assume I need the correct year for getting all new parts.

Any help you guys can provide will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Heath

Best bet is to pull the cover, check the condition. Here's a link for some info...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=491254

Re: Help with identifying 12 bolt rear end

Pulled the cover. Don't know what to look for. Is there something on the inside (somewhere) that will help me identify the year of the rear end?

I'm not worried about the gear ratio at the moment. I'm trying to identify the year.

Thanks

Counted the teeth on the main gear and pretty sure I came up with 40.

Also can see that it is stamped with Richmond, but can't seem to match up the part number.

According to ha code it's a 69 earlier 3:73. If 5 lug it's had axles changed or redrilled.

Yeah. That's what had me confused. Definitely don't think the richmond gears are from the factory.

Now I'm not sure if I need to be looking for 69 (due to rear housing) or 70 (b/c it's 5 lug) when replacing all the brake parts (springs, wheel cylinders, etc..)
