i have a tilt van column in my truck, and it has the key cylinder on the column. is there a way to remove it? i already have a cylinder mounted in the dash i am using.

If you are just trying to remove the cylinder from the column.........there is a retaining keeper inside the column.

I would say that the outer collar might have to be reworked to get it smooth.

I bet someone on the 73-87 board will know, that series of truck has the ignition cylinder in the column.

You have to pull the wheel and retaining plate. There is a small "c" clip that holds it in. Then remove the turn signal switch. After that, there is a small set screw that holds the cylinder in place. Remove that, and pull out the cylinder. On some models it is not necessary to remove the t/s switch. Good luck.
