hemorrhaging 230 in my 63

My 230 is leaking like a sieve. Can the oil pan gasket be changed while the motor is in the truck? I can tackle the valve cover and side covers easy enough. didn't want to get in to the pan with out some sort of feednack from someone who has been there.
