How did Chevy paint the grill area?
On some trucks it looks like the entire area behind the grill is painted white and on others it's just the outer edge.
I'm painting my truck Black with a White cap and White grill but not sure what was protocol for behind grill area. I'm guessing the inside of the cab should be Black also. |

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
I agree 100%!
It HAS to be correct from the factory or it will bother me every time I look at it. |

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
Same for me. If it isn't black behind the grill it doesn't look right to me. The white border is optional to me. But it depends on the body color and whether the truck is stock looking or a custom build.

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
Well, I don't know if my color choice is a stock option, but I am painting the entire body inside and out Black. The cab top will be original white/ivory color, and the grill and border around the grill will be White as well.

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
here's a pic of mine. I didn't like the white band, with a white grill as my 61 has. Just to much white for me. Not stock--nobody except a 60-66 guy/gal or the expert would know.

I was originally going to paint my roof and grill surround white and have the rest of the truck painted black. Maybe instead I'll just paint the cab top black as well. I noticed that the dash is not black, I'm surprised, I thought the entire truck would be black. |

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
Take a look at that entire thread. Originality may not be your aim, but if you stick with the details and do it like the factory did, you can't hardly go wrong.
The factory look never gets old, and just plain looks right ... which is not always the case with custom schemes. |

I like the fawn interior with the white dash. Now I'm not sure if I should do a white top. |

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
on some gmc's the area behind the grille was body color, and gmc did not use the white stripe around the grille. some of the gmc's did have the black painted behind the grille. I have some pics om another computer that I can post later.
for chevy, quite a few options on the interior (factory) depending on the year. 60-61 silver , charcoal dash , silver around gauges, (60) charcoal column and wheel,(61) silver column and wheel 62-63 fawn , with the white around gauges, white column and wheel 64 fawn, black gauge surround, white column and wheel 65 fawn, black gauge surround, fawn column and wheel 66 fawn with brown dash, silver gauge surround, fawn column and wheel. gmc followed much the same pattern on their interiors. I have a hard time with both trucks that have the grille surround painted wrong, and ones that have a "wrong" color interior. it is just one thing that jumps out at me right away when I look at a truck.

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
here you go- 61 has the deluxe wheel.
on the right side in the red truck you can see the taped off line splitting the charcoal dash from the silver roof post. * found a better pic showing the silver interior.

I'm painting my truck stock black with stock white grill and white grill surround, what the heck should I do about the interior? Also, should I paint the top cab area white or black? I'm almost wondering if I should have 16" wheels instead of the 15" that are on it. |

Re: How did Chevy paint the grill area?
I would go for the stock look for the interior, and paint it silver. that said even though it is the stock combo, silver looks real good with black.
if yours ended up like this one... except black ... I am almost thinking just all black,no white roof. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...-PICKUP-161657
