Cant say as Ive seen one of these before. Take some serious coin to restore, but I bet it would be really nice looking when done.

I thought hard and long about buying this truck before cracker box pulled the trigger. Too bad someone bobbed the rear of the bed at one time. The C30 step sides seam to be coming out of the woodwork lately. I've had mine for 4 years and most people never knew they existed.

I really like the C30 stepsides and if I lose my truck for whatever reason, a C30 or LWB stepside is what I'll be looking for as replacement.

I'm understanding where my dad was coming from more and more every day. The music kids listen to now days sucks. I don't get the whole patina thing at all, and now guys are going nuts for long bed step sides. Used to be the only thing a long bed step side was good for was winning an ugly truck contest!

Having said all that, if patina'd long bed step sides are your thing, more power too ya. Knock yourself out. But the music still sucks!

"Stepsides are ugly?" Did you hit your head on a lift?

I've always thought stepsides were more graceful looking and different with most everything being a fleet. Besides, a stepside is far easier to sweep out and load, in my opinion. I have been a stepside fan since about 1979 when I was old enough to recognize dad's stepside which became my stepside. As for length, trucks are for hauling and the longer the bed, the more load is hauled. Patina though, ugh, have to agree with you there..... rust is rust.

I just see it as a bit of "friendly rivalry," on this site.

Patina is a fad like flames were. Not as absurd, but still pretty silly.

The long bed step sides are cool. I'd like to get a C30 9 foot stepper and make it a 4x4!

Re: 68 c-30 50th stepper for already gone

I personally think long-steps are an acquired taste. One I haven't quite acquired yet, but I'm close. I'm much more into a long-step tuck if it's a K20, but that is just me. A C30 "anything" is a pretty cool truck - and a 68 50th long-step C30, well, I gotta say I like this truck a lot. Unfortunately, it is pretty darn rough, those doors and rockers make me cringe! But it would be so nice restored.

As for patina, I think we all agree that rust isn't patina. However, I'm not sure it's as much of a fad as people think it is. Fake patina, not a fan. Rather, I see the whole evolution of the real patina "thing" a bit more as an acceptance that each and every "finished" truck doesn't have to have a show truck paint job and that wearing your original paint on an old work truck is kinda cool. I don't think that mindset is going to go away, considering the cost and roll the dice quality of today's paint jobs - the growing rarity of these trucks. Think of how many are parted out every week on here. It's extremely hard to find a "good" patina truck. Most of what we see referred to as patina today is either junk or fake - but a real patina truck is what I see as a survivor truck with some minor fade and discoloration that shows its age. I have no problem at all with someone keeping a truck mechanically "as new" and not slapping on a glossy paint job. I have to admit, maybe I'm becoming an old fuddy duddy, but I don't even like the majority of the new paint jobs I see floating around out there - many of them are a little too "Earl-Scheib-y" to me. Then again, a quality paint job is an outrageous price. FWIW, I have had an Earl Scheib paint job for $99, and I was mighty proud of it at the time (it was a long, long time ago). I think we get a little spoiled on this site because there is a gathering of some of the absolute nicest trucks in the country on here. And that's a good thing - we get to see everything from the 2016 Earl Scheib paint job to full on restos to original paint survivors. All good.

Here is another thread on this truck. Does anyone have a link to the for sale ad? Is it still up? Meant to save the pictures and apparently didn't.

I used to be with you on long steps, but there are several on the board that actually (to me) look really nice.

My brother has a 65 long step. I never tire of telling him how ugly it is
