Pics of Valve Covers and advice?

I replaced old leaky valve cover gaskets a while ago and it stopped the puddle of oil under the truck.
...then the puddle was back.
...i retightened the valve cover bolts (?-hex head screws).
...then puddle stopped.
...then reappeared.
...then retightened...
etc etc

What should I use to tighten them for good? (Besides Loc Tite?)

Would the type of gasket make the bolts loosen?

If I remember correctly, the ones I installed are silicon rubber...

I assumed you used some cork type which will leak like yours did.
Make sure you straighten the covers, pop the bolt holes back up, use some black rtv form-a-gasket to seal the gaskets to the cover and smear some heavy grease on the gaskets when you bolt them on.

I like black super weatherstrip and gasket adhesive. I've never had one leak when I use that. Both 3M and Permatex make it and they both seem to work equally well.

good to see that someone else uses heavy grease as a oil sealer.

Stamped steel valve covers will deform around the bolt holes every time you tighten the bolts. The more they deform, the worse they leak, no matter what kind of gasket you use. My recommendation is to get a set of cast aluminum valve covers, some nice Felpro reusable rubber gaskets with the metal reinforcements that prevent over-torqueing, and be done with leaking valve covers.

hate to be a toad but ive never had a puddle of oil on floor from valve cover gaskets is it possible you have another leak. Seems a leak that bad would hit exhaust manifold and smoke like crazy. my covers were seeping oil but my timing cover was dripping yes cast valve covers are great and look good too

I used some "imported" ebay rubber gaskets with steel reinforcement and it stopped my leaks just fine, I think they were around $25. I have aluminum valve covers and use lock washers with the teeth on the inside.
