Phantom flutter update

I got home yesterday, and got to work under the hood.
I first checked the timing: it was at about 9 deg BTDC.
I reset the timing at 14 deg, and it seems to run better. I hooked up my vacuum gauge, and it runs a steady 19 hg at idle.
I'm going to tinker a little more today with the idle and mixture
I haven't had it out on the road yet but, will this afternoon.

Re: Phantom flutter update

may i suggest driving it before changing carb settings my truck pings a bit at 14 i have it set at twelve of course my dist. may be adding more advance than yours. I holed a piston once and it still irks me.I noticed you know quite a bit about.these trucks im sure ill be asking your advice at sometime. if you have a lean condition and you advance timing it might take of it. Your vac advance is working correctly right?

Yeah, I'm going to try the 14 for a little bit. I sure don't need to punch drain holes in my Pistons. When first I started it up last night it seemed more responsive, but again I haven't had it out on the road yet. Feel free to ask me anything you might need. If I don't know the answer I'll tell you right away, but I grew up with these older cars and trucks, so I do know a bit.
