64 k10
Just recently got this k10 from my dad. Needs a lot of work, but it's been in the family for years and now I get to work on it. 327, granny tranny, drums all around and NO power steering. Disc brakes and powersteering are the first on the list. What do you guys think?

Re: 64 k10
I'm not convinced it "needs a lot of work". It's too nice looking to need a lot of work. Damn nice looking.

Re: 64 k10
Another welcome, and as usual most of us like lots of pictures. Nice looking truck.
As 61K10 suggested, their is lot of info here on your upgrades. Often there are different ways to do a change, which are often presented here. You will find lots of help here too, if needed. On PS and disk brakes changes, 61K10 would be a good person to ask about doing it with stack axle. His excellent build thread describes how he added disk brakes with original Dana 44 front axle. Another way is change out the '64 Dana 44, for a newer Dana 44 ( or certain 10 bolts) with disks and PS. You can also include the front sway bar that came with this newer axle. One difference when using the newer axle, is it moves the front track out about 1 1/2" on each side, which should be considered. CaptainFab another member here has outstanding knowledge on making these changes too. Hope this helps some, one suggestion, research some of the excellent build threads here, along with the FAQ section for 60 - 66. Les Last edited by aotte1; 09-28-2016 at 11:25 PM. |

Re: 64 k10
Welcome to the forum
This 'needs a lot of work' has to be all mechanical. The body looks perfect.

Re: 64 k10
Thanks to all. It's a well kept truck, and thanks to the desert, there's no rust issues to deal with. It just needs to be updated a bit so it doesn't feel like I'm driving a tank down the road. I'll definitely be checking out other bills for ideas. Plenty of good stuff here
