Question Spring to pop hood up ??

I know I read something here a year or so ago, but don't remember what to use.

What year of a truck can we get the spring off of to pop our hood up with? Mine's a real pain, You have to slip something under the lip to pop it up to open it.

Ron

Mine would do that until I adjusted it. Now it pops up 'bout 2-3". I loosened up the bolts to the fender and tilted the hood all the way open and then some. Tightened the bolts and tried it. Popped right open. You'll have to do it a couple times to get it right. Just my $.02 .

Mine was like that. If you lube the hinges it might help. Mine had a bad hinge and once I replaced them, now I have to hold my hand over it to keep it from flying open when I pop the latch

Ron, try my patented method of hood adjustment and that may do the deal without any modifications. First lube the hinge pivot points real well first with some oil then with some silicon white lube spray. When nice and smoooth, then with the hood open all the way, try adjusting the hinges a bit by loosening the rear two bolts on the hinge to fender adjustment, then push the hood up just a bit beyond the normal open position---just enough to get the hinges to piviot a bit more to the rear. Then tighten the rear bolts. Now slowely bring the hood down. May need to loosen the hood latch plate that mounts to the hood so that the tapered latch centers into the latch mechanism. Once done, the rear of the hood will sit flat with the fenders/cowel. And, when you pull the latch to open, the hood should pop up about 2 " as long as there is no hood to fenders/grill alignment issues. Done this many-many times and it works even with some worn hinges!!! Good luck---Huck

A buddy of mine Ron, his hood poped up like half way when I puled the hood latch. I was like sweeeeet, mine dose not do that. He gave me the same advice as ( HUCK ) just gave ! I personally have not had a chance to get it done but I will try it out soon here !

I use to tilt every hot rod that I owned, And I'm contemplating this one also.
The only reason this one isn't probably not already done, I lived in a dusty gravel road area for 18 years. I'm not there anymore, Now I can see a Lake off of my deck...So no more dang desert dust on the manifold...

But it will be a ways down the road, Like, maybe a year or so.
So much to do, So little time.

Ron
