How do most of you pick up a cab?
Lifting a cab tonight and wondered how most of you move your cabs. I made a simple frame a few years ago to use with our bridge crane- works better than the strap and skid steer method I used to use.

Hard to see but I just used ratchet straps to Eye hooks bolted through the body mounting holes. Did it alone, would be easier with two people.

One or two of these will normally do the trick.

Re: How do most of you pick up a cab?
We made a brace out of 2x6's so it fits in the door jambs on both sides at once. We bolted to engine hoist arm and it lifts right up with little effort. I got the idea off here ..just search ariund and u will see it. I didnt take pics or i would post it and i loaned out to someone, but cant remember who.

I use a two post lift. I also have one of those cab lifter deals that is sold with the plans for the tip flipper cab dolly. The cab lifter went home with one of my customers. His cab will be coming of the tip flipper and one of mine [70 short ]will be on it soon

Like this. This was built using plans from a member (Rokcrin) on here. I e done the straps, and it does work. But the cab is front heavy and it can be very awkward. I put the cab on my frame, by myself in about an hour. No lifting and no sudden movements. It works awesome. The plans are cheap.

Re: How do most of you pick up a cab?
I also have a Bridge /gantry crane . but I prefer using my 5-12 lift ,I also use it for beds as well , I like it better because I can lift it up to 12 ft and also move it to anylocation. but the gantry is great for removing and installing drivetrians
