Dash lights
I just picked up a 1988 C1500. I drove it for the first time last night and I could see the gages, but they were not bright at all. The dimmer switch was all the way up. I'm looking into upgrading the bulbs behind the cluster. I would like to go LED. I can't find any information online and I don't want to remove the cluster so I can order them. Would anyone have a list of what bulbs are currently used and how many there are of each?
Thank you, Kevin C

Re: Dash lights
In 1988 they had the 194 bulbs and when they get old they get a look like the inside of the bulb has a chrome coating. Light does not get through the coating like a clear bulb. I would just replace the bulbs and try it. You may find some of the bulbs are burnt.

Re: Dash lights
I just picked up a "new to me" 88 Sierra a few days ago. Same exact issue as you. Ordered some LED's for the cluster, haven't put them in yet. But, this may help you get started...
https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehi...=474&year=1988 I ordered 5 of these... https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...t-car/206/919/ |

Re: Dash lights
If you do go LED, make sure that they are inserted correctly. Some LEDs are polarized and have to go in one way. Trace the circuit on the back of the cluster to find out which side is + and which is -.
