Best place to clip the in-cab harness ground
Looking at the books, it's difficult to tell where the harness ground wire was clipped (the end is a sheet-metal U-clip, not a spade terminal). Does anybody know what the stock location was or what the best place would be?

Both of mine clipped to the back of the dash metal right next to the steering columns. I just made sure there was a bare spot of metal to clip it to. Squash the clip a little too so it fits nice and tight. That should do it. Jeff.

Those little clips are the cause of most dash problems. Remove it a replace it with a good ring terminal and screw it down were you can't see it...you will be the only one that knows and your dash will work perfecty

put a ground strap from the cab to the frame also, it helped my truck, because of all the paint and dirt and whatnot collecting on the truck through the years

Two straps cab to motor (where the battery is grounded), one cab to frame, one frame to motor. Instead of worrying about grounding the bed, I'm going to ground the tailights directly.
Thanks for the info, guys. I may in fact screw the ground down. I had had no problems with it prior to tear-down; I just couldn't remember where it clipped. The details slip away after so many weeks. . . .
