Belated NEW TRUCK DAY!!! (many pics w/progress)

I'm finally getting around to posting my truck....a yr later.....lol. I got it in Alabama. I believe it was a straight 6 to start. Was told it had a 350....it did not, it's a 305, but runs good. 3 speed manual Column shift converted to floor shift. Outside of the rockers and behind both fenders having rust band bondo, this a SOLID truck. Has an atlanta plant vin code. This has been a labor of love due to all the STUPID stuff folks have done along the way. Nothing major as far as correcting it, just stupid ideas....lol. There will be pics of my progress and the stupid stuff as well For as solid as it is, i don't think I did bad at $4000, what do you guys think?

The pic of it is front of my house when I got home with it.

Here is few pics of it before I did anything to it:

The engine bay as I got it:

Re: Belated NEW TRUCK DAY!!! (many pics w/progress)

Here are pics of some of the STUPID stuff folks did to her along the way:

This is what they used for the starter hot wire:

Here is the setup they used for the ignition circuit, an extension cord with a aftermarket ignition switch.
Thank the lord they didn't cut up the factory ignition switch plug as it was just hanging under the dash. Made installing the correct ign switch easy.

This is what the back of the aftermarket ignition switch looked like!! A fire waiting to happen....

Extension cord for the tail lights as well:

More wonderful tail light wiring!!

Re: Belated NEW TRUCK DAY!!! (many pics w/progress)

I forgot in my last post to add that the motor is a late 70s which hasn't had the hole drilled for the bell crank stud. Someone cut the frame up the frame and moved the bell crank bracket down a length of the bracket to get to the BOLT, yes the bolt..... they screwed into a hole behind the oil filter housing to make it work. I had to drill and tap the boss on the side of the block.
Here's some pics of that:

I bought some drill bit extensions and fresh bits and made it right:

Sooooo, I get the bracket move dto the original location and and figure out really qick why it got moved .
The manifolds are angled back which puts the exhaust right in the way of the bell crank being able to move fully.
To correct that issue, I got these off c. list for $75 so I can get rid of the manifolds.

Things I've done so far:

NOS MR. Gasket shifter for $36 to the door!!!! he,he

Installed a hayden variable speed fan controller. Speeds up as the
temp rises. I highly recommend it.

Thanks man. It's been fun so far, though my wife wants to drive it RIGHT NOW......lol. She doesn't understand why certain things have to be done in order to drive it after it was sitting since 1989 under a car port in AL . I try to explain but I lose most of the time....lol. Just to try and make it road worthy iv'e done brakes, brake lines, master cly, hoses, pitman arm, radiator & heater core (the originals started pouring coolant within 30 sec of each other, i just laughed at that one and got another beer),carb, hei distrib (the weights didn't work at all in the old hei they installed), alternator, battery, shocks, got all the wiring done, tires. The bell crank fiasco has been the roughest thing so far.
