Anyone buy parts trucks?

So I've got a build thread going, but it's a truck missing a lot. I found a 71 long bed running rust bucket for $800. Who has bought trucks just to use pieces for their build truck?

Re: Anyone buy parts trucks?

Do it all the time, slowing down now and thinning the 'herd' to only 1 truck

Smile Re: Anyone buy parts trucks?

i've bought a couple hundred over the years, some for parts i needed and the rest i parted to help out others. most of the options on my 72 super and 69 suburban were from "parts trucks".

Re: Anyone buy parts trucks?

I have bought four parts trucks and just bought another Saturday. You can never have too many parts

Re: Anyone buy parts trucks?

All the time. Mostly for the square bodies but I did buy this 71 for parts for my 68 I put the power steer setup and power brake booster in my truck. I also parted lots of it out real cheap to help other guys out. One guy used the green interior. One guy front crossmember and rearend. one guy took the harness, cluster and column, switches. Another took the engine for a core and the 4 speed. It was rusted out completely twice and the second time the bondo fell out. I still have some parts but not a lot left. I paid 180$ at auction and with the parts I used and a couple hundred bucks from the other parts(a few coffees too) it was well worth it. It ran and drove but was not safe from the middle of the frame back and the roof and floor were almost gone. No grille or bumper was on it.

(IF you part a decent truck don't tell anyone on here )
