Decent window handles

I replaced one of my stripped handles with a new handle from a well known replacement vendor. It was OK, not great but fit in fine. Well a month or so later I go to roll my driver window up (not the one I replaced) and the thing snaps in half! I don't know if it was original or not, but I was pretty surprised. Anyway, I hate to pay 7 or 8 bucks to ship just one window handle. The last one I bought with a bunch of othr stuff. So I came across these. 11 bucks shipped for the pair seems too good to be true. Is it? Has anybody purchased these before? Thanks.

Unless you find an original OEM or NOS handle then they are pretty much all the same useless Chinese-made crap.

I think i have an oem one lying around, dont have an idea how to ship though sadly

Those same handles were used in millions of GM cars. There must be a few OEM ones lying around in the scrapyards. That would be my response to this situation.

^^^^^ I know they were but sadly no scrap yards in my neck of the woods. Used to be years ago. Am I allowed to ask if anybody has any spare ones?

Little update. I popped for the handles on Amazon. I opened them up on Saturday and returned them on Sunday. They were complete garbage. I know the more expensive handles are chinese pot metal too, but these were especially bad. Horrible castings and the finish wasn't a real chrome. I don't know what it was, but it didn't look like chrome. I couldn't bare to put them on my truck. Stay away.

That's the problem I face (unless someone in my area knows better)... no wreckers anywhere near by, and if there were, low chance they'd have anything old enough to have crank windows!

If you're lucky enough to live near a pick-a-part where you can wander in an pull a window crank, thank them!

Yeah, don't think I've been in a junk yard where you can wander around on your own in 25 years. And there wouldn't be much in the way of old cars anyway.

If you want to spend some real money looks like gm are still available p/n20348200 at over $50.00 a piece. To rich for my blood but at least it is still an option

$60 for the GM one from Amazon, $12 for the OER. What worries me is that the $12 OER part has the SAME part number, 20348200, as the GM unit. So which does GM sell I wonder? Original die parts or, more likely, OER repros?

I see that dorman makes them too p/n 76912, About $12.00 each. Dorman carries a lifetime warranty on their parts if you go through a local parts store. No freight and if you don't like don't buy it.

I actually have set of these that I ordered out a couple of years ago. I was not impressed on the quality of the chrome. I am sure they are just reboxed.

The last one before these super cheap ones that I ordered was from Summit. I believe the company name is OER?? They weren't bad. Nothing spectacular but they fit right in with the 5o year old stuff already on the truck. I just don't want to pay $7-$9 shipping a $12 part. I'll probably just wait until I have a bigger order and do it then.

over the years I have ordered hundreds of genuine GM / AC Delco parts for various vehicles. All different types of parts. Here of late, almost without exception, they are all made in china. I personally will not purchase a genuine GM part unless I know its origin.

Just FYI...

If you can find a junkyard that has any GM vans up to the mid-90s without power windows, they have the same window cranks/handles.

The OE parts were not very good either. I went through several of them back in the 70's. Sloppy fit, plastic knobs would fall off, splines would round off. Chrome was OK. They would last longer if you instructed passengers to not pull the door shut with the latch handle. My truck now has LMC handles, which seem comparable to originals. The LMC door latches and window regulators are very stiff and notchy though. I was glad to have a source, as mine were shot, but would have liked better parts.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll search around for a van handle online.

I didn't look at any castings numbers so I don't know if it was a factory one or not, but like I said, one just snapped right in half out of the blue one day.
