Question Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

1967 Chevy C20 (3/4 ton) PU.

Questions about size of replacement drip rail? I got right hand drip rail (rain gutter) from BROTHERS, (PN DRR6772). Drip rail is good replacement except outside edge is noticeably smaller. As you can see in the attached pictures, I put new up next to existing original, and an obvious size difference compared with steel ruler and digital micrometer of the drip edge: approximately 1/8 inch. I am just surprised because other "patch panels" very close to exact duplicates of original. I have contacted their Customer Service and told that is only replacement available. Anyone else replace the rain gutter on their trucks?

Re: Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

Attached picture is why I opted for replacement. Thoughts?

Truck was a "Barn Find" for second Owner and I bought from him. For some reason Right rain gutter, rocker, and rear corner have bad rust. Rest of truck is in pretty good shape.

Re: Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

Are there rust holes in the actual gutter? If the only damage is to the actual rail piece there, I'd try cutting it off, and welding in a piece just big enough to cover that one area. I think I'd just try bending and cutting my own sheet metal if the replacement piece doesn't match up well.

You might also see if someone could cut you out a piece of drip rail from a cab being parted out, enough to replace just that damaged area, rather than the whole drip rail

Re: Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

Thank you dfwright. I was thinking similar. Just figured if a patch panel was available that was quick fix - but not if it does not match rest of rail.

And that is a great idea about cutting a piece from a parted-out truck!

Re: Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

I bought a set from GMC Paul's to replace both of mine. I had the same issue you have. only the inside is also incorrect and you just cant see it yet as you don't have yours removed. I contacted the Vendor and he and the supplier wanted to know why I thought it as not correct. I sent them a picture of the 2 side by side. he refunded my money and said there was only one supplier for all drip rails made Regardless who you buy from. I found a Cab that was in bad shape with good drip rails and drilled them out.

Attached pictures are why I'm needing to do repairs. Only passenger side of truck has issues. Yes, figured all made in Taiwan.

Check-out Auto Metal Direct (AMD) at http://www.autometaldirect.com/tripl...rh-p-4699.html
I am told their parts are made by same standards as originals and in USA.
I sent them an email to confirm before ordering.

Question Re: Rain Gutter (Drip Edge)

Have not heard back yet anything from AMD, but BROTHERS let me know they bought from same Supplier (the company Tri Plus). So giving more serious consideration to shaving 'em?
