Help please
I got a 1984 Chevy Silverado c/k 20 series 4x4 3 quarter ton pickup I just replace the gas tank on it brand new I hope everything back up to get around the block and next thing I know it dies off and acts like it's out of gas I put gas in it it would not start only time it starts when I prime the carburetor with gas I replace the fuel filter in the carburetor can't find the main line canister filter anybody out there please help me figure this problem out I need to take my butt back to work if my truck is down I can't go to work please

Fuel pump not working? I've haven't overhauled this system so unfortunately I don't know all the potential hickups - choke working on carb? possible air lock?

Could you have kinked a rubber line at the tank?

Do you have the hoses routed correctly at the fuel sending unit? I would disconnect the fuel line coming out of the fuel pump and and have someone crank the engine to see if you have any fuel coming out of the pump.

Since you just replaced the tank there must be a problem with that. I would hook a longer 3/8 fuel hose to the metal line leading to the fuel pump inlet and try to suck some gas through that line. If you use clear hose you may not have to drink any. It sounds like you may have gotten a hose kinked or something.

I would also bet you have a kinked rubber hose the sending unit. I had the exact thing happen to me one time.

Yeah I figured out what the problem was the fuel lines were hooked up backwards thank you guys for all the good information
