Welding gas?

I have a snap-on mm250 welder, its a mig with tig capabilities, I bought the tig kit with it 10 years ago but haven't used it, just used the mig. I want to try the tig but I don't want to have to buy another gas bottle and have to keep switching bottles when switching from mig to tig. is there a gas I can use for both? This will be used for welding steel only as the welder is not ac/dc capable.

Common mixes for mig are c25 or c15, tig on the other hand needs 100% argon. So unfortunately you will need to get a second bottle

I'd ask is can the 100% Argon be used for MIG? My guess is yes, but the cost may be higher.

You could mig weld steel with 100 argon but I don't think it will turn out very well, at least it didn't when I tried it. One possible solution is to have one bottle of 100 argon for tig and then use flux core for mig so no gas is required

Straight Argon for mig welding steel does not work because its to cold
C25 for tig does not work because its to hot.

You will need 2 separate shielding gases for MIG and TIG. I use 75/25 for MIG and pure Argon for TIG.

Unfortunately, you will need two different bottles. Mig needs co2, without it mig gets pretty temperamental. And just try and tig with anything other than 100% argon and that is pretty much a disaster so yea.

They are correct on the Shielding Gases.
