Scrapping a frame: what should I keep that people need?
I usually play with '60-'66 trucks, but I just picked up a '67-'72 frame.
I needed the control arms and cross member out of it, so I've already cut those out. I also dropped the front cross member/K-frame for the '60-'66 guys. Are there any pieces from these frames that guys need? Rear cross member, under-the-radiator cross member, shock mounts, trans mount cross member, etc. etc.? This is NOT a "what's it worth" or a "For Sale" thread. I'm going to get a membership this week to start selling '60-'66 parts... Just trying to clean up around here, and don't want to throw away parts that guys can use, but also don't want to cut pieces out of this frame and then sit on them forever. -Brad

Pictures will help see what you have and make it easier to see if what is left is good

Re: Scrapping a frame: what should I keep that people need?
It's a rust-free southern bare frame... Everything but the trailing arm cross member and front suspension cross member is still there.
Shouldn't need pics of it--if it was riveted or welded to the frame rails from the factory, it's there, it's straight, and it's rust-free. It's also on my trailer, getting ready to be hauled to the scrap yard tomorrow, so before it goes, I thought I'd ask. -Brad

At one time or another the front x-member always seems to be bent where someone thought it would be a good idea to wrap a chain around it to pull someone out or fasten it down to a trailer. I always save those.

I'm gonna keep the front and rear crossmembers, and the shock cross member. The rest goes to China in the AM.

Re: Scrapping a frame: what should I keep that people need?
I cut up and sold almost every part of my bent frame on this site. I got way more for it than the new one I bought not bent...
