Which automatic floor shifter?

My '62 has a TH350 with a floor shifter, but it's sloppy and rattles more than anything else in the cab, so I'm looking to upgrade. It looks like quite a few of you are using the Lokar. Is there a difference in how well the tunnel mount and tranny mount work? Are you satisfied with the way a Lokar performs and holds up? The one thing I wouldn't mind having that the Lokar doesn't offer is a gear position indicator. Are there other aftermarket linkages I should consider? Or are there any that would install fairly easily and work well from other GM vehicles?

Re: Which automatic floor shifter?

Do not buy the transmission mount. I helped a friend install one on his car. It transfers a lot of noise into the cab.

Re: Which automatic floor shifter?

I used to run a B&M Megashifter in a hot rod '61 with a high hump floor. It was at a perfect height and the ratcheting action provided firm positive control of the shifts with a slap of the hand. A little costly, but a sweet performance shifter. If I were to ever have a floor shifted automatic again, it would still be the one for me.

Re: Which automatic floor shifter?

I know I'm not answering the question BUT a column shifted tranny is nice too. Consider a original 1960-66 AT column (prices vary) and a Lokar column shifter kit (about $75) and allow your honey to sit along side you...
