Anyone in South Florida need a stepside bed?

Not sure if this belongs in the classifieds since its really a giveaway. I replaced my entire stepside bed with new panels because the body shop I used wanted to charge too much to prep the original parts. the parts I have (bedsides and fenders) are probably not for a show quality build but if anyone out there is building a driver and doesn't mind having to put in some elbow grease to finish sanding and prepping (I repaired rust holes at the front of the fenders with fiberglass) you've got most of your bed for free. I've just moved out of my parents house and was saving these parts for "the next one" but as I am still recovering from a home remodel and still have to finish my truck it may be a while before the next one comes along and I'd really hate to send these off to the scrapper... I also have a 72 drivers side front fender to give away too.

Was your stepside long wheel base or short wheel base?

FL is a long haul but for long wheel base stepside fenders, I might could step up. What's the condition on that front fender? Just surface rust? Rot?

Re: Anyone in South Florida need a stepside bed?

Its a short bed (good luck finding a long one) the front fender has a little rot on the bottom that a shop bondo'd over a bit and the bolt up to the radiator while still bolt up-able is a little rusted

That's the thing, I don't own a welder (though im past that stage having already painted the replacement panels), but my dad asked me to get ri dof these pieces still at our home in Miami and Id really hate to give em to a scrapper when someone can use em

Re: Anyone in South Florida need a stepside bed?

It's tough not having enough of your own space. I have truck parts stored all over my garage, my grill assembly in my living room, three of my front fenders and cowl in my parents' garage, extra NOS parts in my parents' extra living room, and plans to bring my remaining front fender into dad's truck garage space this week.

I simply must reassemble my truck's front end before winter, or I'll end up with those fenders stored in my house as my parents will demand the garage space be cleared before the snow flies.

The short and long stepside use the same rear fender as well as tailgate and front panal, so there are a lot of good parts there if your trying to piece together a longstep. Either way I hope somebody can keep this from going to scrap.

Oh really? I did not know that.

I have heard the spare tire fender is different between long and short wheel base stepsides.

They are! That is why there are two different right fenders vs six different left fenders 67-72.

Yup, essentially, the shortbed cutout stays above the bodyline and gets really close to the fender flare. The longbed cutout dips below the bodyline and is farther away from the fender flare.

Really cool of you to offer this up for free, heck, if it wasn't so far I'd come get it for wall art in the garage. It would help if you had a few pics to throw up so people could see the condition.

Sometimes I really wonder how GM stayed in business.

Those are '67 rear fenders. No re-pops available. Hope a '67 guy uses them.

Re: Anyone in South Florida need a stepside bed?

Now you got me thinking of a road trip in my '68 Stepside to visit my brother in Orlando, commission a 292 L6 head with a very cool builder in Daytona... That's near there, then negotiate for some tin in Miami.....
So at 12 MPG, how much gas will I burn from Tucson to Miami and back?
[I can strap on some extra jerry cans on the side runningboard pockets.]
# -#-#
[POP] Oh well, maybe if my 292 passes emissions this time. Can't go anywhere if theres no valid licence on the rear bumper.
