Re: Tachometer Not Working

I have seen on E bay that some of the tacs advertised are for point type distributor and may not operate correctly with HEI type distributors.

this tachometer came with the new bezel 1967-72 tachometer conversion kit with wire harness it said on the instruction that this tachometer is designed to work with most HEI ignition system but would need the tachometer adapter

Re: Tachometer Not Working

Definitely check the ground. Then verify you have 12V power. Then confirm that you've got the TACH signal from the second tang of the HEI connector going to the tach (brown wire).

You didn't mention wiring in the tach adapter. Did you do so?

Re: Tachometer Not Working

this may sound silly but how can I ground it with only two wires coming from the tachometer as for as the adapter I bought 2 plug off ebay that fit into the tachometer side of the cap with a clamp that clips to the outside of the cap maybe the problem is I don't think I have the wire plug into the second tang I will try moving it to the other position on the cap

Re: Tachometer Not Working

You just ground the case if I recall. You'd -think- it would pick up ground from the PCB, but I remember having to ground mine too.
