Re: 1949 rat build
Ok. We are all related on some way. Do you know from where in DK they came? My mothers uncle lived in new jersey untill his death some years ago. He was a marine in the danish army, and escaped the nazis in _43. He was enrolled in the US army and came back.from the korean war heavily traumatized. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Re: 1949 rat build
To finish the story about my mothers uncle. He came to visit here in DK a couple of times, and at one time he broughtt me a little vw beetle, a car that could be winded up with a key and when you push a button at the back, it unfoldet into a dragster and went away with spinning wheels. The original car is gone, but i purchased one exactly like it on ebay some years ago. It has now become a classic toy and i love it. it triggered my interest in classic iron, so i owe some gratitude to it, so i keep it on a shelf in my living room. He married there, and died there some years ago. I dont think he found "the american dream", his wife died some years later at a nursinghome. We lost contact to her since svend died, but my mother asked her to put ourcontact info among her personal belongings to notify us if something happened, and she did, we had a letter from some lawyer telling that she had passed. Strange how things work out!!
If my memoryserves me right, my brothers schoolmate ended up as a local baker in Solvang Ca. If he's still there i dont know. |
