OEM spare tire carrier - body color?

Thought the spare tire carrier was black originally. Then I saw this one in a 71 Blazer (on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Bl...m=391598131755 ) painted body color and the K5 its in looks pretty original (sure steering wheel, carpet are new). Any thoughts?

Re: OEM spare tire carrier - body color?

Well since I catch some over spray on the bed to tailgate seal I'll bet the carrier was recently painted.

Doesn't appear to be bolted to the floor either, looks too close to wheel well to even get the tire in the holder, could be why the spare is not mounted on it

Looks to me like it's just leaning against the seat, in order to take the photo.

The one in my 71 is body color. Not much of a picture.

Re: OEM spare tire carrier - body color?

Thanks for replies guys. Paul - do you suspect that's original paint on that in your 71?

I like the look of the color keyed tire mount. I was considering color keying my Hickey roll bar when I repaint the Blazer. Now I think I will add the tire mount to the list.

Re: OEM spare tire carrier - body color?

I kinda like the look also. Wonder if this could be a plant and/or year specific variation. The ochre blazer is Flint built per the provided VIN. Flint built custom camper pickups had unique badge placement not seen on custom campers built elsewhere.
