Apologies from new but not new member...

I inadvertently upset a few of our members yesterday.

I was looking for some information for putting proper insurance on my and my husband's '72 and picked up on an older thread from a Google search. This thread was a discussion about the "Heavy Half" tag on older than '72 Chevys

A couple of members asked who I was, for pictures and were very welcoming. So, I replied with pictures and another thread with information backing up what I had said.

A member was very adamant that I not pick out older threads and post on them. I had read through all the responses on the thread I commented on in particular and have read through many threads over the years in this forum. This member tagged me as an ignorant new member. Because of his very rude response I will not be responding to any threads in the future and offer my sincere apologies for any offense to any others that read my post.
Thank you for your time-
'72 original owner and extremely knowledgeable 67-74 Chevy truck enthusiast!

Not all of us are alike. Please do not judge the entire forum on the opinion of one member.
I will re-welcome you to a new start!

Re: Apologies from new but not new member...

THANK YOU!

I will check back from time to time. As our Chevy takes life again after being garaged and ignored for 5 years due to life and $$$ getting in the way, I will post pictures.

Nice looking truck I hope you decide to stay. I thought the Heavy Half models were from the square body era 73-87 I have been wrong before a few times in my life.

That is a great looking truck.
You should hang around and ask questions. Some of the people here are extremely knowledgeable on these trucks. You may be surprised by some of the things you can learn about your truck even.
Post a pic of the SPID when you have a chance.
Welcome.

When you come on this site and make a claim like this, do you not think anyone else here is knowledgable? Special-K was not rude in his post, just correcting some misinformation that you posted. If you look back at the thread you will see that others are posting similar responses. There are retired GM employees, engineers, and guys who have owned hundreds of these trucks that have forgotten more about them than you or I will ever know.

Well said. I followed the other thread as well as this one -- wanted to add my two cents but at the same time I do not wish to ruffle the feathers anymore than they already are. Everyone deserves a degree of respect.

The way I see it, nobody knows everything there is to know. But collectively, this board comes awfully close when it comes to 67-72 GM trucks, and quite a lot about other models also. Nearly everyone can learn something here from time to time but only if they are willing to learn. Heligypsy, if you decide to stick around, you'll find this to be one of the friendliest boards on the 'net, with a great many members who are willing to help whenever help is needed.

It's too bad you were so easily offended. As quoted above, I'm sure Special-K did not intend to insult you, rather was correcting a thing or two that you posted in error. His knowledge far exceeds my own and I appreciate his input.

If I may, a couple observations / questions about your truck, and '67-72s in general. I am unable to determine from your pics -- does your truck have 8-lug wheels? All K20s came with 8-lugs, and unless axles have been swapped or the truck otherwise altered, if it has 6-lug wheels it is a K10. And as already mentioned there were no short wheelbase '67-72 K20s, so that raises another question.

Re: Apologies from new but not new member...

Welcome. Please don't let one member stop you from asking questions.

If I had stopped asking questions my build would've stopped.
Making friends would've stopped.
The recent 10 day stay at Clemdaddys place would've never happened at his (Tuba Trucks) toy drive.
Learning would've stopped.
Cool things would've stopped happening.

Ask, ask all the questions you need to ask. If someone is rude thats their problem.

Welcome and glad you read through the threads for info. I've read a ton and learned even more.
