New cab , yeah?
Before I totally commit to searching for a new cab I wanted to make sure others agree that that's my best option. Here are a few pics of the roof area rust that I feel is grounds for replacement.

with that amount of rust in the roof, i cant imagine the bottom is any good either. id replace it

Cutout the bad spot inside and inspect to see how bad it looks inside the roof to determine if it just needs a patch or completely reskinned. They produce new roof skins and the inside patch . Also of course depends on time moneyand experience.

Before you do anything, inspect the cowl really well. With as "open" as that roof is, I wouldn't be surprised to find the cowl is heavily damaged as well.
Patching would require a lot of difficult welding and making patches for curved areas, I can clearly see the upper A pillars are shot, I bet you'll find a lot more damage when you pull the windshield. I would absolutely not bother with patching this one. You would need an inner front roof skin, outer skin, likely drip rails, and A-pillar and outer pieces they don't repop. *IF* your cowl and floor are really good (which I doubt), an entire roof swap isn't horribly difficult, it's been detailed on here a few times, but it's likely not a good first project if you've never welded or cut up stuff before. I'd look for cabs in Al/GA, I've seen quite a few FL trucks with roofs like that posted on here in the past few years.

The cowl is the area right in front of the windshield, behind the hood. These trucks were only painted on the outside for the most part so they rust in the cowl, or what people call the inner cowl. It can be changed sometimes there is rust on the inside of the cowl gutter also. I've done it, but unless there is something special about that truck I would get another cab.
Case in point- I had a super nice original paint 504 green CST truck. We removed the inner cowl, repaired the cowl gutter (not sure what thats called) and installed a new inner cowl. Along with both floor pans and some A-pillar work. When it was all put back together we still had an original paint truck but now it didnt leak water. You have decide if its worth it to you or not.

The whole front area above and on the sides of the firewall is considered the "cowl". And yeah... go for a new cab. There's a lot of work there...

ROger that. Hey Reno can you post some more pics of the cab? The drip rail above the passenger side and the windshield frame looks rusted out, is it just surface?

Just surface. The seam sealer needs redone. Typical on these.
Kinda hard to pass a small window cab off as a 70 though.

I trust your judgement because I've seen Rose so I think you know a thing or two about these trucks so if you say the cab is good then it's good. I will buy it but I'm gonna need a little bit of time to come up with the money. Are you actively trying to sell it or do I have some time?? I'll put down a deposit if need be.
