New Blazer

Hello everyone, I used to be a member years ago but dropped off after having to sell my first blazer. I always promised myself I would get another one to replace it when I could. I finally got one about 4 months ago. It was about 75% done when I bought it and has come a good ways. Weather has been nice lately so getting to drive it to work almost everyday. Still a lot more projects to come.

Re: New Blazer

Sweet K5, I like the rims / tires. I'm curious, do you know what size wheels / tires are on it?

Re: New Blazer

Glad you are back. Love the blazer and the color. I would be interested in knowing what kind of rims those are? I like the tire and wheel combo.

Re: New Blazer

Thanks Guys, honestly I thought I was going to take a ton of crap about putting more modern wheels on a classic truck but I do really like the way it turned out. Just a little bit of modern goes a long way in making an old blazer really stand out from some of the other classics trucks. The wheels are Fuel "Nutz" black/machined color 20x10 and -24offset. Tires are Nitto Trail grapplers, not my favorite but really quite and well behaved on the highway they are 37x13.50r20. It has a 6 inch lift, block in back and spring in front. At first there was zero rub but as I'have put more miles on the truck and carried passengers those old springs in the front are sagging a little and I get just a little rub on the front of the fender at full lock so I gotta fix that.

Re: New Blazer

Before and after on wheels tires. Bought it with 35x12.50r15 Cooper Discoverer tires on original 15 inch Chevy wheels. Didn't change lift or anything. $2,700 later....

Ya I'm sure some of the old school guys may not like it but I think it looks pretty awesome.

Re: New Blazer

Build it as you want it is how I have always felt. Great looking Blazer. Wheels are a personal preference item and while those are not exactly what I would use they don't kill the look of that great Blazer!

Re: New Blazer

I like the modern wheels on it. Color is one of my favorites. How does it drive with them?

Re: New Blazer

I love it! What a nice Blazer. If you don't mind me asking, what are the seats out of? I am looking at seats for my 72, but can't quite settle on a set. I am back and forth between high and low-back buckets. Thanks-
-K

Re: New Blazer

It drives pretty darn well with the 20 inch wheels and 37's. Doesn't walk around in its lane on the highway even at 70 mph. The ride up front is a little stiff but it was like that even with the previous wheels and tires. I think I just need softer springs and shocks next.

The seats were from an 85 blazer, front and back. A local upholstery shop recovered them for me since they were pretty darn beat up. The toughest part was the brackets on the bottom of the seats. I was missing part of the set up on the passengers seat so I had to just weld it to the floor pan. When I bought it there was some kind of extra steel plating below the floor on only the passenger side so there was no way to bolt the seat in like you normally would. They are pretty darn comfy though. I always liked the low back seats myself but these came with the truck so I just stuck with them and like the feel of the high back.

Re: New Blazer

I like the color of the truck and the blacked out grill. Wheels are a personal choice, I would have gone with a little smaller diameter but it looks good.

What are your plans?
I would upgrade to LED headlights, tail lights and marker lights.
Maybe a roll bar, I see some kind of rear bumper rack....
