Intermediate Shaft

I want to use the intermediate shaft and column from a 1971 on my 65 C10. I want to use a U-joint to replace the factory grease knuckle between the steering column and the collapsible intermediate shaft. The collapsible shaft has a pin, sleeve, and a pot. Do i just remove the pin and sleeve and use a 3/4" smooth to 3/4" 36 spline u-joint and use the existing hole to anchor the u-joint? Or do I cut the lower portion where there is a "DD" 3/4 design and use a 3/4" DD to 3/4" 36 spline u- joint?

Re: Intermediate Shaft

I would cut the lower portion where there is a "DD" 3/4 design and use a 3/4" DD to 3/4" 36 spline u- joint. This, I believe, is the safest method.

Re: Intermediate Shaft

Makes sense, Thanks. I will install power steering gearbox and steering column before I measure and cut intermediate shaft.
