New 68 C10

Well I took the leap and bought a 68 C10 last weekend. It came out of CA so it's pretty solid. I'm planning a LS swap. I've got a L92 on the engine stand.
Really bought it for the cab and front sheet metal. I bought a short box frame a couple of years ago.
Spent last the last couple of nights cleaning out the mouse nests and stripping out the rubber mats along with the fun to remove underlayment insulation pad. The floors are really nice. Not a bit of rust.

See attached pic. They even threw in the topper!

Looks like she is a driver! Keep it together and put a few miles on it

Nice truck. I would not break it up, as there are lots of guys who want these "survivors" left just the way they are.

More pictures and details would be great.

Re: New 68 C10

It runs but smokes quite a bit.

No buckets just a really worn out bench seat.

It's a three speed on the column.

It's got the corvette style power steering setup. Manual brakes.

I asked my wife if she wants a patina truck or painted nice. She wants it painted and I agree. Nothing against patina trucks just not what I'm into.

Same with the LS motors I wouldn't build anything else. I've done a number of LS swaps and had nothing but good luck. Nothing against small blocks or big blocks just not what I'm into.

Current hot rods I have with a LS swapped in:

71 Corvette LS1/4L60E
98 Wrangler LS6 /4L60E. Use it to plow snow in the winter.
99 BMW 3 series LS6/T56. Seems like an odd swap but its a great car.

Leave the hood ornament on. It's too cool.

Yeah that hood ornament is pretty special. Wonder what it is off of?

Re: New 68 C10

It's 6.2 out of a 2013 Silverado. Small cam 225 intake / 230 exhaust. LS3 intake.

I had a similar L92 in a 73 Z28 and it did 420 hp on the chassis dyno. Ran great. Got great gas mileage. On the Power Tour couple years ago at mostly 60miles per hour it got 24 miles to the gallon. I've since sold the car. It was a great swap. It was featured in Car Craft magazine.
