Re: WTB - Compass

For which year? If you are trying to be year specific 66 has a bow tie and a smooth surface 67 has gm letters in the center and smooth surface. in 68 and 69 they textured the compass case so it wasn't blinding and both had gm lettering in the front. 66 67 had the light button inset into the front of the compass and 68 69 had it flush. Just for info purposes.

It is the correct NOS compass and that was my point

It is possible that Tdrcreyn4 may not be looking for factory correct compass and that is fine.

But its also possible the 67 compass is different.

Just trying to help.

Re: WTB - Compass

Thanks for all the comments. I have a compass that 70CST pictured and would be willing to trade if someone was interested. The pictures I posted were scanned from original 1969 Chevy Truck and GMC accessories literature respectively. To answer the question specifically, I want what is circled in the picture above and I will install in my 1969 K20. Thanks again for the comments.

Your right about the part # but that is a 68 69 compass. That is weird. HE had it for $1400 a month ago. This is a picture of my correct 67 compass. The 68 69 ones are pretty much the same but have a textured finish.

That might be right - I have 2 or 3 stashed away and haven't looked at them for some time. This is a picture of the mount system

Re: WTB - Compass

Wow! There was one of those on the dash of my GTO when I bought it back in 82. It and the trailer hitch were the first things to go. Now after reading this thread I want it back,. It would look so cool in my Burban. Plus I can see all the kids asking "What is that?". Curse you people and your forum and all my non-winning lottery tickets.

The price is on that one is now $2850!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-1969-70...236537?vxp=mtr
The seller must be reading this thread

Here's some info I found on various versions of GM compasses on the " Super Car Registry" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...able-from-deal

There is currently one of the bowtie compasses on eBay. Below are some pictures from that listing. The instruction sheet is dated 5-18-69 which seems to verify the info in the Super Car link above.

Sorry about the hijack. Maybe this discussion belongs on the message board.
