1971 K20 4" Lift steering issues
I purchased new springs 4" lift for the front and rear of my 71 K20
I also replaced the tie rod and ends and used a drop pitman arm from ORD. The truck is all over the road. the drag link is not level. What raised steering arm do I need for a dana 44? I was told I did not need to change the steering arm if I used the drop pitman arm but it seems like I need more to correct the steering before I go get it aligned. So do i need a raised steering arm? or a offset drag link? any help would be great Thanks Matt |

Did you properly align it after you replaced the tie rod ends?

NO-
I figure i need to get all the steering stuff squared away before I get it aligned. The truck steering radius is not good right now. The drag link is not close to level with just the drop pitman arm |

Re: 1971 K20 4" Lift steering issues
It will steer the same left and right even ifor it's not level. There are only two settings. Steering wheel center and toe. If you can steer the same amount left and right lock to lock you're good there. then set toe. Improper toe will make the truck driver terrible. Set the toe with a tape measure and get it close. I bet that will help tremendously. Then align it with a laser if you want.

I am not familiar with 4WD, but if you have toe out on a car it will wander and be very darty on the road. I would also suggest you check your toe. You can do it with some boards on the tires and a tape measure

You should be using the raised steering arm and it should steer and track just perfectly.
