5 speed

I did a search, but didn't really find a lot. My '57 currently has a 700r4 in it. I was thinking about how much labor it would be to convert it over to a 5 speed. I saw the thread about all different transmissions, but that's not what I was looking for.

I have a CPP firewall mounted brake booster setup. Could another pedal be added to this support bracket, or would it require a separate clutch pedal? Has anybody on here done this to their truck?

Re: 5 speed

Best thing would be to contact CPP and ask if they have a clutch setup that can be added to what you have. You are most likely looking at a hydraulic truck with the firewall mounted pedals but that isn't a big issue and probably a lot easier to make work right than mechanical linkage would be.

As much as I like my manual transmissions my left knee cringes every time I get in one of them.

Re: 5 speed

I have that bracket, too...
It sure looks to me like if you fabb'ed another pivot-shaft support for the extra width, used a longer pivot bolt & found or fabbed another pedal arm you could make it work. Nothing off the shelf I'm aware of.
