Tire Size Question
This relates to a more recent vehicle...so here goes.
My (DD) truck is an '05 Silverado 2500HD/Diesel and it currently specs out to use/have the tire size LT 245 /75/ 16", (load class E) However, I've seen a lot of guys running LT265/75/16" tires.... What is the impact of this size change up from 245 to the 265?....just preference? any impact on the speedometer reading or? Many Thanks! Coley

Colin the 265's are 20mm wider than the 245's so a slightly larger footprint. The 245's are 30.46 inches tall and the 265's 31.64 inches tall. Because of the 1.18 inch height difference there would be a small ( in my opinion ) 3/4 MPH difference in speedo reading.

Ive got 285's on my 04 silverado. I will never go back to a skinny tire. Rides down the road SOOOOO much nicer. Plus looks better in my opinion.

A large majority of the vehicles I service that came with 245's are now running 265's ( my rigs included) as Already Gone stated, 265's are wider & taller, IMO fill out the fender well a little more & are sometimes cheaper too! Not enough difference on the speedo to cause computer issues.
