Season 1 Episode 1

Whats up world?!?!?

This is going to be like an old re-run you forgot you already watched...

Im a guy from a state who likes trucks and is finally going to build one. Ive been here for years unofficially reading the forums.

Here's the back story of how i ended up here,...

When I was about 20 or so my friends uncle died. He had in storage a bunch of Chevrolet stuff: two cars, a few motors and transmissions he was building an old jag when he passed, you know the story goes on,..anyway in one of those storage units was the entire body and miscellaneous items for a 1957-59 Apache. Most all of the other items were all going somewhere already. The items that were not spoken for were heading to a swap meet that coming sunday; it was thursay or friday when we emptied the units. I helped load everything onto a flatbed tow truck, the apache parts included, and decided right then that I wanted that truck body and whatever came with it. I made a deal and it was mine.
At the time, I lived with my mom and she didnt know it but her garage was going to get really full, really fast. and with big dreams i thought i was going to do something, not immediately, but very very soon. Well, surprise, nothing happened. 10 years go by, i move the truck body twice, the frame sits and rots at a friends maybe 30 minuets away i never go see it

I used to have an integra. I would still have it to this day if it werent stolen. I drove my work trucks or van for the next few years, before getting a new vehicle. I really enjoy driving and that change was drastic and still haunts me to this day. So after the theft i decided it was time to move on to building this Apache.
In those earlier ten years I read everything I could find about the apache and developed a dream truck for myself. The original frame at my friends has its own crazy story and I ended up not getting it. so plans change slightly.
The new plan was to buy a running C10 drive that for a little bit. Tear it down. Put the apache body on the donor frame. Do repairs as you drive. Simple. Well, I drove everywhere looking for the "perfect" truck. Finally found it. The PO gave me a huge run around with the title. He signed it but never officially registered it with the DMV so he was driving illegally for who knows how long. Luckily, if youre a glass half full guy, the guy he bought the truck from was his boss who he still worked for. I made a bunch of phone calls to him left messages and texts; none mean because I need his help for the title. Things only got settled when I went to his work and told his boss.
Finally, things are happening for me. I get the C10 I want. 1986 stepside with a 355 and 700r4 , the motor needs work the suspension is a joke its old and dirty there are weird sounds ive only ever heard on the mieneke brake commercials and all i can do is smile i drive this thing everywhere. One day, i think it was christmas eve or thanksgiving eve(ha, is that real?) the motor overheats. So,now is as good a time as any to tear it down then right?

I get a storage unit. Getting the C10 with the blown motor there had its own set of problems. But once finally settled, I began work tearing it apart. I got the body off after going there a few nights after work and on the weekends. I had some help from brothers too; older and younger.

Currently the frame is bare, the front crossmember is bare control arms removed and spindles separated. rear axle and leafs are separate

After all this I now know two things for sure: I can take things apart and spend money

So stay tuned for next season. Im starting a build thread
