Anyone know what the rear u-bolt diameter is for a 71 2WD? Probably no different than the diameter on any other trailing arm chevy truck. Gonna have a new pair of U-bolts made and this is the number one question I keep getting asked.

I just drilled some holes in a plate for my u-bolts and used a 3/4 inch bit. The size was close so depending on the stock they have it is slightly less than 3/4 inch. Hope this helps

Yeah, when I am talking to these places (the parts stores more than the BIG RIG fabricators) I keep getting asked, "Are they 5/8 or 9/16 inches?" And they are definitely thicker than "normal" so that "close to 3/4" size sounds right.

I can't get a quote over the phone unless I know the right size and I'd rather not run all over town for quotes with my U-bolt in hand. There are several places in town that will make them "while U wait" but the local Napa store is much closer, so I am trying to find out so I can buy a pair from them.

The napa store won't have them. They have to be manufactured. I bought mine this summer, went into a local truck spring shop, laid the bolt on the counter.

The old guy said: 1/2 ton Chevy pickup.

Let me go get them.

They were already made, in stock, cost about $15 each. 3/4", I can't recall the width and length. Measure them and find out.
